Bismillahi Rahmaani Raheem wa Salaatu wa Salaamu ala Rasulihil Kareem
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
والصلاة والسلام على رسوله الكريم
والحمد لله رب العالمين
As-Salaamu Alaykum my dear brothers, sisters and children.
It is a great pleasure indeed and an honor to serve you all in our local community in Cambridge.
The gracious contributions of our small community in supporting the Zawiya Fellowship learning center are clear proof of everyone’s keen and sincere interest in inter-learning and supporting a generation of youth in need of knowledge and spiritual development that helps them realize good understanding of Islam.
The goals and purpose of our learning center are the same as many traditional Islamic community centers in Canada, and we aspire with the help of our Lord [swt] to advance the teaching of Islam in our community by supporting a place of worship with services conducted according with the tenets of Islam and the blessed Sunna traditions of Allah’s Messenger upon whom be peace.
The Zawiya Fellowship will be holding regular suhba study sessions, Friday congregational prayers, Quranic study, weekly Zhikr Halaqa, youth activity programs, Women Study Circle and celebrating annual festivities and cultural observances associated with our faith, as well as Arabic language classes in our modern language lab for children and adults. All are welcome.
Another significant contribution to our community is the publishing of a major new commentary and interpretation of the message of the Holy Quran in plain English for youth. The new work is based on accredited major books and references of Tafseer and uses Modern Standard English every student is familiar with. The book is titled: “The Sacred Message of the Glorious Quran” and we hope to have it ready for release by early Spring of 2013 as well as an e-Book interactive copy of the same for free download from our website soon in-sha Allah.
Our Zawiya’s future planned publications will include: “Secrets of the Opening Chapter“ a 286 pages study of Chapter One of the Holy Quran – Al-Fatiha, “The Sacred Utterances” – Al-Hadith Al-Qudsi” and “Tarbiyatu Saalikeen” – Education of the Seekers” – this work is based on the Sunnah Tradition of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, upon whom be peace, in the way he taught and raised the blessed companions [ral], as well as other publications in-sha Allah.
I pray to our Lord to continue blessing our community in Cambridge, to strengthen our faith on the Straight Path and I look forward to a productive and beneficial new year 1434 H./2013 A.D. with everyone’s participation and contributions to your Zawiya Fellowship by the Baraka blessings of our beloved Rasul (صلى الله عليه وسلم), Allah’s Messenger upon whom be peace.
