Here we begin in the Name of the Divine Sovereign Lord Allah, the Creator Cherisher and Sustainer of all the creations, and we invoke the Divine blessings upon the most Noble of Allah’s creations, Allah’s Prophet our Master Muhammad upon whom be peace and upon his family and companions, and those who follow in their footsteps until the Day of Judgment.
In this special booklet, we are indeed blessed to share with the reader one of the well-known supplications, about which our Grand Shaykh, the Imam and Qutub Sidi Ahmad Al-Rifã‘i [t] may Allah bless his soul said: “The Messenger of Allah taught this prayer to me”. He also added: “I received the prayer word by word from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s Regards and Peace be upon him, and I named it “The Cutting Sword. I further recited it at Arafa [in Mecca] before al-Khidr, peace be upon him, who called it: “The Guarded Secret & the Hidden Gem.”
A copy of the original manuscript “Hizbu-Saif Al-Qãti’ is found in the Ottoman Annoor Library in Istanbul, Turkiye, under the number 2851, section “Weekly Prayers” of Imam Ja’far Al-Sadiq [u] upon whom peace.
Reciting this prayer is a protective shield, and a strong supplication to achieve success in important matters, and it is commonly read by the seekers of the honorable paths, Qãdiriya, Rifa’iyyah, Senussiyya, Shadhiliyyah, Aqiliyya and Omariyya Tareeqas and others; and the majority of the scholars, Imams, Shuyoukh among others, have adopted this prayers in their regular supplications, for it is the most famous supplication ever among others, and it has immense grace only Almighty Allah knows their reach. Whoever recites it with sincerity for a specific need, it answers his and her intent (إن شاء الله), Allah Willing, and it is protection from calamities, and adversities, as well as it is a great recital for strengthening one’s steadfastness in walking the path of Almighty Allah.
This supplication is a must-have for the seekers on the path, and it is a Divine Fortress for those who seek refuge in it, for it is entirely from the Divine Revelation, the Holy Qur’an, which needs no further clarification. I have seconded each of the Divine Ayat recital with an English translation from the Mushaf Shareef titled, “The Sacred Message of the Glorious Qur’an” published by our Zawiya Fellowship.
I pray with you that such benefits satisfy the needs of the reciter, and I thank my Lord Allah the Most Supreme for His guidance to publish this blessed prayer for the benefit of all, wassalaam.
